Susie holds certificates in NDT (Neurodevelopmental Therapy)/Bobath Management and Treatment of Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Neuromotor Disorders, NDTA (Neurodevelopmental Therapy Association) Advanced Baby Course, SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test), Therapeutic Listening, Integrated Listening Systems including the Safe and Sound Protocol, Interactive Metronome, and Mightier Me. Susie’s treatment specialty is collaboration with parents, teachers and co-therapists, while working one-on-one, in dyads and in groups, to ensure the successful application of therapy achievements into the child’s universe. Susie’s approach to treatment starts with the whole child, and seeks to address sensory, motor, cognitive, social-emotional and academic skills as they impact their occupational performance. Susie is experienced in a wide variety of evaluation tools including sensory processing, neuro-motor, visual-perceptual motor and developmental assessments. In that time, Susie has worked with children of all ages from babies through teens who have been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, autism, sensory processing disorder, genetic disorders, and a variety of neurological issues. Susie has experience in hospital, home-based, education-based, and (currently) private practice environments. Susie Stern has a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University and has been licensed as a Registered Occupational Therapist by the NBCOT since 1993. She lives in Rockville, Maryland with her husband and two children. At her private practice, she provides evaluations, consultations, home programs and on-going treatment.
Geary is passionate about providing the highest quality therapy and being involved in educating parents, professionals and anyone working with children about the importance of early intervention and the benefits of occupational therapy. Geary has consulted with numerous area preschools and provides in-services and lectures at local schools and parent support groups throughout the year. She is certified in The Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) and the Interactive Metronome (IM) and has specialty training in the evaluation and treatment of sensory processing disorders, interventions for dyspraxia and coordination disorders, implementing sensory-motor strategies for emotional/behavioral and attention regulation, Handwriting Without Tears, Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking, Interactive Listening System (ILS), The Astronaut Program, visual/vestibular related dysfunctions, DIR/Floortime principles, therapeutic yoga, hypotonia and postural/core instability and fine-motor/hand dysfunction in young children. She has extensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of children challenged by pre-term births, sensory processing disorders, developmental delays, neuromotor disorders, genetic disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and learning disabilities. Geary practices at and is the owner of Jumpstart Therapy, LLC. After receiving degrees in psychology and occupational therapy from Allegheny College and Thomas Jefferson University she went on to complete her Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Towson University. She grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Kimberly Geary, MS, OTR/L is a pediatric occupational therapist with over 20 years experience working with children who struggle with motor coordination challenges or sensory processing differences.
